Forget Detox Let's Pretox

This comment applies to those who returned to work today or those of you who struggled out of bed before 8am this morning.. Whilst sitting my car during my commute to the office I thought ‘Today is the Wednesday that feels like a Monday’

Again I return to my desk, sink into my chair, let the sound of my colleague sneezing sink to the back of my mind and try to focus on today’s work load.

Fortunately for me today is fuelled by wonderful food and drink to keep my energy levels sufficient, assist concentration on work and most of all taste's great.

My 2013 Aim is to have a neater desk than this, so far...failed!

Whilst listening half heartedly to the radio during my journey my ears pricked up to the mildly amusing tones of the ‘Diet Rhyme’ and wondered how many of the other listeners had started a restrictive diet or detox.

I’ve tried and failed many crash diets, counted calories, restricted carbs and nothing is as effective as eating a balanced diet and exercise. I started a ‘Pretox’ in December knowing that I would eat more than normal and keeping in mind I wanted to enjoy festive goodies and not feel guilty.

During December I’ve kept active almost everyday with my ‘5 Days Of 5km’ running, 8.2 miles on Boxing Day, regular climbing, New Years Day Power Walk & Swim and Sunday afternoon strolls. I even managed a 3.1 mile power walk on Christmas day and with the assistance of Alibi Pretox I’ve managed to recover a few slightly fuzzy head mornings and make the most of my days off.

Alibi Pretox comes in two flavours: Sparking Citrus and Sparkling Pomegranate and my personal favourite was the pomegranate but the citrus had me wide eyed and bushy tailed much faster (something about that citrus hit). But what inspired me most to keep enjoying these drinks was the fact they contain NOTHING artificial and the mix of vitamins, minerals and natural herbal extracts make a this drink a health boost also.

I am anaemic and whilst my symptoms are generally under control I need to keep my energy and B12 levels at a good level to prevent any dips and as Alibi Pretox includes this It’s winning again.

How could I forget? - Only 99 Calories a can...Unlike some other drinks that include as many calories as a small meal..

If like many others you are staring a new year with healthy aims, keep them realistic, remain balanced in your approach and remember your body needs vitamins and minerals to perform to its very best so rather than reaching for caffeine or high sugar drinks give Alibi a try.

Have you tired Alibi before? Do you often find yourself picking up Red Bull, Lucozade or similar for a boost?

  1. I've never tried Alibi but it sounds like something I need to get into! I'm not fuss about the calories, but I need a healthy alternative to boost my energy. I used to be really into red bull at Uni, especially during exam periods.

PS reading the first paragraph of your post made me smile, it's as if you described how I started my day, barely made it out of bed at 9am :)

    1. I was so into Red Bull also (again when I was studying/working tonnes) but it made my teeth chatter late at night which made me appear a little nuts!
Because of that I've always resisted energy drinks but with Alibi no mad teeth chattering and I'm not fearful I'll turn yellow due to chemical overload.. :)

  2. I too tried these drinks over Christmas. A girlfriend pointed them out in holland and barrett whilst we were looking for supplements to get us through the winter months! Compared to all the other drinks that holland and barrett stock, we were amazed by how many nutrients these tiny cans contain. I am quite a cynic so i went through the ingredients list and I have to say, i was really impressed - they taste great, hydrate you and contain bucket loads of the nutrients which are proven to look after your body. Bring on the WINTER -I have an Alibi! Jess

    1. Hooray! I agree, I love wondering around Holland and Barrett looking for healthy treats and dried fruit supplies and these are a added bonus to the shopping trip and well worth stocking up on..Plus I had a can before a early morning run and I instantly felt 'awake' without caffeine (even better) :)
